R&R's Electronic Waste feeds Plastics-to-Fuel Plant in Singapore, goes live in Q3 2008
Crushed electronic waste processed at R&R's site in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire will supply the newly commissioned $50,000,00 Plastics–to-Fuel Plant in Singapore.
HOW ENVIRO-HUB'S PLANT WORKS
- Mixed waste plastic is fed to a reactor to be melted at 350 deg C.
- A special catalyst is added at controlled intervals, whereby a process called depolymerisation starts.;
- The catalyst 'cracks' the polymers of the waste plastic, producing three by-products: diesel, liquid petroleum gas and coke.
- The process takes an initial three hours to start up, after which waste plastic can be fed continuously into the reactor all day.
QUICK FACTS
- The first phase of Enviro-Hub's plant will be able to take up to 100 tonnes of waste plastic a day.
- At 30,000 tonnes a year, the plant is expected to produce 20 million litres of diesel, four to five million kilograms of gas and 1,500 tonnes of coke.
- The plant will operate 330 days a year.
R&R will exclusively supply the Enviro-Hub/Cimelia process with Electronic Waste emanating from UK based IT Maintenance Organisations, Producers and OEM’s resulting in a Carbon credit or offset.
Steve Hodges commented, “ By contracting with R&R to supply E-Waste through the Plastics to Fuel process, customers are assured of full compliance with all environmental legislation and also that the waste produced will create a positive benefit in the form of fuel, no landfill, no loose ends”.

Toshiba Chooses R&R Data Managed Services To Provide Data Recovery Solutions To Customers.
Toshiba's Computer Systems Division today announced that it has chosen R&R Data Managed Services to provide its customers with data recovery solutions and services. With 20 years experience of successful data recovery, R&R is able to offer Toshiba clients the best solutions to potentially disastrous data loss scenarios together with services to protect hard drive content vulnerable to human error, viruses, natural disasters and device failure.
"We see R&R as an innovative data management organisation with the flexibility and responsiveness needed to deliver a wide range of services around notebook users' most important asset - their data," said Gary Evans, Head of Services for Toshiba CSD. "Many users don't understand the real value of the data they store on their PC and everyone faces the risk of losing information at any time through malware, component failure or physical damage to their machines. We see more and more of our customers storing critical, valuable and sometimes priceless data, photos, music and video on their notebook PCs, and whilst we stress the importance of backing-up data regularly to avoid data loss, Toshiba, with R&R, can now extend a helping hand to users who suffer potentially disastrous hard drive damage and failure."
"By partnering with Toshiba, we are now able to provide superior data recovery services direct to one of the world's most trusted and reputable notebook manufacturer," said Bill Osborne, Sales & Marketing Director of R&R Data Managed Services. "R&R is leading the competition in terms of recovery success rates and recovery expertise and we will be helping Toshiba to become the only notebook manufacturer to widely offer data recovery services direct to the customer."
